The work, Tabula Rasa, is originally inspired by the copies of the Apollo Statue. These copied statues are quite popular in China, while their primary spirit after duplicating for millions of times are lost. By an inner-explosive look, Jin Shan attempted to create this work, which is willing to transform the statue into a being-harmed or/and being-deconstructed subject, to endows the statue with the spirit of the time.

"The impossibility of satisfying desire, the drive to power, the inherent contradictions in life, are all seemingly programmed into humans, into their DNA. In this respect my work begins with the specifics of present day China, but extends beyond these borders to portray the abstract forces that shape human interaction and structure societies.” - Jin Shan .
