Ori Reisman’s Untitled (No Title) is an intimate, pared-back composition built around a single suspended form set against a bold horizontal field of orange. With soft, diffused brushwork meeting sharp, decisive background cuts, the painting balances atmosphere and structure—quiet, restrained, and yet unmistakably present.

Dating (probable): Based on stylistic comparison to comparable works from Reisman’s Paris period, the work was likely made circa 1951–1953, during his time in Paris (approximate dating).

Reisman (Israeli, 1924–1991) is recognized as a key figure in Israeli modern painting, celebrated for a refined sensitivity to color and light and for distilling landscape and everyday motifs into concise painterly statements.

Beyond its pictorial strength, the work carries a notable provenance. It formed part of the collection of Israel and Georgette Zafrir (Tel Aviv), collectors known for donating multiple important works to The Israel Museum, Jerusalem (including an Ori Reisman work credited as a gift from their collection). The work was acquired via Art Collect (Auction 101, Part 2 – Israeli and International Art Premium Sale), where works from the Zafrir collection were offered, and it is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Source and Possession by Assnat Gil (beneficiary of the Zafrir collection), dated 23 Dec 2025.
