Aimé Mpane (b. 1968, Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo) is a Congolese artist based between Belgium and the DRC. Working across sculpture, painting, and installation, he is particularly known for carved and painted wooden works that explore identity, memory, colonial history, and the enduring relationship between Congo and Belgium. Drawing on both African woodworking traditions and his experiences across two cultural contexts, Mpane’s practice addresses the legacies of colonialism while emphasizing human dignity, resilience, and cultural dialogue.
