Daniel Gyekyi Gyan (b. 1992) is a Ghanaian contemporary artist who lives and works in Accra. He studied at the Ghanatta College of Art and Design, one of Ghana’s influential training grounds for a new generation of painters.

Gyan is recognized for vibrant portraits that celebrate confidence, individuality, and contemporary African identity. Working primarily with acrylic paint and modeling paste, he builds richly textured surfaces using energetic, palette-knife strokes. His vivid colors and expressive handling of paint bring a strong physical presence to his subjects, who often appear poised, self-assured, and intensely present.

Drawing inspiration from the people and neighborhoods around him as well as fashion, popular imagery, and urban culture Gyan transforms everyday encounters into bold statements of dignity and visibility. While his paintings possess an immediate decorative appeal, their layered surfaces and commanding figures invite a deeper consideration of personality, aspiration, and how individuals choose to present themselves to the world.
