Helen Teede (b. 1988, Harare, Zimbabwe) is a Zimbabwean contemporary artist working primarily in painting. Her practice explores ecology, belonging, colonial histories, power, and humanity’s relationship with the landscape. Teede often approaches the earth as a surface that can be “read,” examining the traces people leave on their physical and social environments. She studied Fine Art at the University of Cape Town’s Michaelis School of Fine Art and later completed a master’s degree in Visual Art at IUAV University in Venice.
