Sizwe Sama is a South African contemporary artist whose practice is rooted primarily in painting and drawing. His work engages with identity, memory, everyday life, and the social realities of contemporary South Africa, often using figurative imagery and expressive mark-making to explore personal and collective experience.
"This is quite self-explanatory. Society has a low tolerance for the unique minorities and it would rather encourage people to pretend to be uniformly alike and that's when discourse and chaos start. I love and applaud the LGBTQI+ community for standing up and spreading awareness about our plight as a non- binary people. We don't want to be liked but rather to be acknowledged, respected, and accepted in our society. After all, we don't infringe on any one's rights." - Sizwe Sibisi
