This piece is part of my new body of work is an attempt to trace and understanding my lineage as a Mosotho woman born, raised, and still living in KwaZulu-Natal. I wanted to draw attention to the women on my maternal and paternal family that have passed. These are real life members of my blood line who visit from time to time in my dreams and have become sort of fictional characters in my paintings. They play a role of conveying messages in my dreams. They are something spiritual, ferocious, and capturing emotion on some ethereal dreamscapes. These figures become alive with an ancestral present as if they are negotiating their relationship with the environment.
