Examining the notion of circumstance and its inevitability, this work reflects on the necessity in adapting to the situation that we find ourselves immersed in. The artist's work is based on real-life situations, which he encounters and later translates into scenes using his recurring iconography that permits a more universal understanding of these observed moments.
A prominent image in Know Hope's visual vocabulary is the amputated arm. A parallel to the tree stumps also featured in his work, the amputated arm is also a symbol of the product of circumstance. The amputation in the piece causes reflection, acknowledgment and adaption to this new condition that was forced upon the character. In this piece, the arm is being sewn back in its place by a bird, communicating a notion of prematurity in being able to cope with these changes.
