FOMA, the artistic name of Anna Mirkin (b. 1983, Moscow), is a multidisciplinary artist who emerged as one of the relatively few women active in Israel’s early street-art scene. After studying fashion design at Shenkar College, she developed a practice that moves between drawing, painting, murals, photography, textile, embroidery, installation, and participatory art. She has been based in Berlin since 2018.

FOMA initially became recognized for female figures and self-portraits created on paper and pasted throughout Tel Aviv. These public interventions addressed feminism, sexuality, misogyny, harassment, and the representation of women within urban space. Repetition and layering remain central to her practice, allowing individual images to accumulate into larger patterns that explore personal memory, cultural rituals, and the collective subconscious.

Her solo exhibitions include Right of Passage at the Haifa Museum of Art, Wasteland at Art Beijing, Submission at STA Gallery, and Layer No. 2 at Gallery Be’eri. Her work has also been exhibited at the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and in galleries and institutions across Berlin, Vienna, New York, Beijing, and Tel Aviv.
