Davina Feinberg
Davina Feinberg Zagury is an Israeli photographer whose carefully staged images examine the construction of beauty, intimacy, and emotional authenticity. Working between portraiture and conceptual photography, she creates polished scenes that initially appear familiar or sentimental, before revealing the social expectations underlying them.
Her series Enameled focuses on one-year-old girls selected for their blond hair and blue eyes—features historically promoted as an idealized measure of beauty. Through casting, controlled lighting, and digital manipulation, Feinberg intentionally perfects their appearance, transforming natural childhood innocence into something almost artificial. The resulting portraits question how cultural ideals are created and how early they begin to shape our perception of femininity, desirability, and perfection.
Feinberg’s photography has been exhibited internationally, including at Photo Elysée in Lausanne, the Haifa Museum of Art, and the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. Baby #7 from the Enameled series was selected for American Photography 27, placing the work within one of the leading annual surveys of contemporary photography and illustration.
