Tamar Ben Simon is a Tel Aviv based Israeli artist whose paintings and drawings explore identity, portraiture and the tension between the individual and the collective. A graduate of the School of Art Hamidrasha at Beit Berl Academic College, she works primarily with ballpoint pen, colored pencil, oil pastel and mixed media.

Ben Simon constructs hybrid portraits by combining fragments of different faces, references from art history, elements of her own appearance and imagery produced through artificial intelligence. Recalling facial composites used in forensic laboratories to identify missing persons, these carefully rendered figures appear simultaneously familiar and unsettling, shifting between the human and the artificial. Her theatrical compositions similarly bring beauty and violence, intimacy and alienation into uneasy coexistence.

In 2024, Ben Simon presented the solo exhibition No Ground at the Petah Tikva Museum of Art. Her work has also been shown at the Negev Museum of Art, Bar-David Museum, Tel Aviv Artists’ House, Fresh Paint’s Artists’ Greenhouse and the Supreme Court of Israel.
