Artur Yakobov is a contemporary artist working primarily with photography. His staged images often examine human relationships, psychological tension, conflict, and the theatrical possibilities of the photographic medium. Works such as Brother’s Hatred (2008) use constructed scenes and cinematic composition to suggest narratives that remain deliberately ambiguous, positioning the viewer between observation and interpretation. Yakobov’s work has been presented in contemporary art exhibitions and is represented in the Serge Tiroche collection.

The subject matter is strongly influenced by his violent childhood in Uzbekistan and in Israel as a new immigrant where he arrived when he was 7. Art has always been his way of escaping reality into his own world of fantastic imagery, composed of multiple fragments of memory.
As a rebellious student in Art school he had much difficulty getting through the first years, but eventually got recognized in his final years and graduated with honors. He studied drawing, painting, sculpting, photography and video and continues to draw, photograph, sculpt, and create video installations.
