"In this work, as in other works from this body of work, I start by creating a frame. The knit is woven over the brass rod creating a division corresponding to the woven structure of the bamboo sheet. The drawing consists of a similar color combination as the existing lines on the bamboo woven surface, however, in contrast to the orderly woven structure with rigid dotted lines, the drawing breaks the orderly visual as if the woven structure were in a chaotic war with itself. The drawing depicts a fight between scorpions, and the wired structure extended out from the frame mimicks the shape of the tail of a scorpion with a sharp dressmaker pin pointed at the drawing itself. Materials and techniques used in this piece also address my relationship to textile, fashion, and jewelry making." -Covey Gong
