If it wasn’t consists of nine photo-collages, each measuring 6.5 x 8.5 cm. The collages are made from C-printed landscape photographs, taken from the google-image search engine. Each of the prints are covered by a vintage fruit sticker with a golden edge that have been picked up at a flea market in Shenzhen. In this work Shiyuan pays special attention to the ways in which we, on a daily basis are confronted with vast amounts of visual content, and further how this exposure affects the ways in which we develop parameters for valuing visual content. If it wasn’t questions the tendency towards valuing physically tangible image-objects over the vast amount of virtually accessible imagery, almost no matter the actual content of the actual imagery.
