At PULSE Miami this December, Steimer was awarded runner-up for the Pulse Prize given out to one emerging artist showing incredible future potential. For the competition, TincaArt presented three large works and a series of small watercolors on paper. Two of the large works are painted on boat sails from the 1960’s and executed in the artist’s studio.They reflect his exploration of space, line, and shape. The third is Steimer’s first portrait made on a lover’s favorite sheets and a scarf from her most beloved place in the world. Heinterwove the materials to build his canvas and proceeded to paint her soul. The result isa radiant burst of light and the inscription of the woman’s Hebrew name within the piece…Steimer not having know she had such a name. The watercolors are a collection hailing from a summer spent traveling, each depicting the sensations of a variety of spaces in Germany, France, Switzerland, Romania, New York, Chicago, and Pennsylvania.
