Identify Michael' is part of the series 'Everybody knows UFeela', a body of work featuring permutations of stretched pantyhose compositions. These abstract works also function as visual dialogues surrounding a fictitious character called Feela (whose name is derived from ‘to feel’, a popular shortened women’s name in Zulu, and a township skipping game involving stretched pantyhose).
"Feela is me, my aunt, my mom, my grandmother, my daughter. Feela is woman, Feela can be from anywhere, anyrace… we all know her but she is a character we choose to ignore. Feela is all woman and my paintings track thepainfully happy, scary journey of a woman such as her and I through the ages" Turiya Magadlela
