“Extensions of A Fragmented Man” is a compelling body of work delving into the subject of man, through the detailing of 30 individual pieces.  Through a visceral approach, each piece deconstructs parts of the male body, allowing the examination of the complexities that come with identity and the fractured nature of the male experience.  To address this human condition, the pieces implode on different facets of fragmentation - be it physical, psychological or emotional. This expansion is seen through the abstraction of form, where the body goes through stretching, disintegration or organic extensions that symbolize tension between societal expectations and inner turmoil. There is a delicate approach to understanding “The Hive” as the body is considered a site of conflict, each piece is a point of evidence, a space to study. In some of the works the male form appears hollow emphasizing depersonalization, in others a mixture of texture between the spaces and subject suggest the internal noise in maintaining coherence of identity. The interplay of bold lines and vibrant colours allows a gap to imagine the in-between and create theories of expression in this relationship. The series looks to invite the viewer for reflection and understanding that there is parity of reconstruction between male experience and its service to humanity.

The work urges a sympathetic confrontation of placement to consider the world, that demands strength at the expense of vulnerability.
