Gatot Pujiarto
Gatot Pujiarto (b. 1970, Malang, Indonesia) is an Indonesian contemporary artist known for richly textured works that blur the boundaries between painting, collage, and textile. Using fabric, stitching, paint, and layered materials, he builds dense surfaces that explore memory, emotion, social relationships, and the complexity of everyday life. His tactile compositions often combine abstract forms with fragmented figurative elements, giving his work a distinctive sculptural quality.
"Dirty Mind / Otak Porno" reflects on the negative aspects of technological advancement. When such advancement is misused, it creates a negative effect on society. One of the major negative side effects of technological advancement is that of pornography. Easy access to pornographic websites has created a societal addiction and dependency for many young people and students. The headless figure in the work screaming is a portrayal of someone losing control, filled with 'dirty' thoughts.
