Founded in 2008 by Israeli art collector and advisor Serge Tiroche, the START Collection represents Israel’s first and most influential contemporary art incubator. Conceived as a platform to support emerging Israeli artists and curators, START serves as a dynamic bridge between artistic talent and the broader art ecosystem. Over the years, it has grown into what is widely recognized as the largest and most diverse private collection of contemporary Israeli art from the past decade.
START was born out of Tiroche’s desire to create an ecosystem of support—offering artists not just financial backing, but guidance, visibility, and opportunities to thrive. The initiative quickly distinguished itself for its progressive approach: collecting boldly, nurturing young voices, and curating with a long-term vision in mind.
